Indonesia (Reported March 18, 2009): Recent investigations during a crocodile survey in Kalimantan (Borneo) showed, that hunting/collecting of large sized Orlitia borneensis is still occurring.
Orlitia borneensis hunting still hot in Borneo
The indigenous Dayak people do not hunt and use the species for their own consumption, but sell the turtles to middle-men who then sell them on to wholesalers. It's not clear if the species is still be shipped to southern Chinese markets, such as Guangdong and Shenchen. Large specimens have not been observed on a regular basis in recent Chinese market surveys.
